Summer studentships – revised for 2011

December 9, 2010

Carrying out laboratory work in the summer holidays after the second year of your course can be a fantastic way to get experience in a research environment. Various learned societies and charities recognise the value of these placements and offer funding to support a number of students to work in labs for up to 10 weeks (depending on the scheme). The application process starts (and more importantly closes) much earlier than you might imagine, so if you are at all interested in the opportunity to work in a lab during the summer then the Christmas vacation is the time to get the ball rolling.

The “Summer studentships” tab, top right on this page, will take you to a list of potential funding bodies. A previous post How do I apply for a summer studentship? will give you advice on the application process.
